MEsp promotes workshop on integrity in sports betting

THE Ministry of Sports (Mesp), promoted this Thursday morning (23), the workshop “Protecting Sports Betting: Integrity in Action”, through the National Secretariat for Sports Betting and Economic Development of Sport (Snaede), in conjunction with the International Betting Integrity Association (IBIA).

IBIA is a non-profit entity, specialized in integrity and combating corruption in the licensed betting sector. The event addressed how it monitors and builds its sports integrity reports, as well as information on integrity trends in sports betting in Brazil and around the world.

“Today we carried out training for our entire team, for the Ministry of Finance team that takes care of this part of betting integrity, together with IBIA. This joint construction, of sharing knowledge, is very important so that we can, in practice, face this problem. Minister André Fufuca gave us this mission, and we are fulfilling it diligently”, highlighted the national secretary of Sports Betting and Economic Development of Sports, Giovanni Rocco.

The initiative is part of the work plan established in the cooperation agreement signed between the Ministry of Sports and IBIA, in May of this year, with the aim of aligning Brazil with best international practices, strengthening the monitoring and combating of sports fraud, in addition to ensuring a fair and safe sporting environment for athletes, clubs, fans and regulated betting operators.

According to Denise Nóbrega, director of Integrity in Sports Betting at Snaede, integrity in sport is a fundamental and non-negotiable pillar that must be protected. “This event, in partnership with IBIA, reinforces the commitment of the Ministry of Sports and the Government of Brazil to combat corruption and guarantee a safe and transparent sports betting environment for everyone.”

The activity is also part of the calendar of activities of the working group (GT) established by Interministerial Ordinance MESP/MF/MJSP no. 1/2025, which brings together the Ministry of Finance (MF), the Ministry of Justice and Public Security (MJSP), the Federal Police (PF) and the Ministry of Sports (MEsp), with the aim of combating the manipulation of sports results.
