To the Caixa Lotteries Mega da Virada 2025 sales began this Saturday, November 1st, with a prize estimated at a record R$850 million. Bets on the Mega-Sena special contest, number 2955, can be placed until December 31st.
The main prize of Mega da Virada does not accumulate, as is the case in other special contests. Therefore, if there are no winners in the 1st bracket (6 numbers), the prize will be divided between the winners in the 2nd bracket (5 numbers) and so on, according to the rules of the modality.
The value of a simple bet, with 6 numbers, is R$6.00.
Prize could reach R$1 Billion
Caixa announced that, this year, the prize pool could be the largest in the history of the bank’s lotteries, reaching R$1 billion, depending on the volume of collection. The mega prize can be achieved after the federal government’s Prizes and Betting Secretariat changes the distribution of the collection percentages allocated to the Mega-Sena and Mega da Virada prizes, through the SPA/MF Ordinance No. 1,656.
Currently, the prize for the main track is estimated at R$850 million, exceeding by more than 33% the amount paid in the last edition, of R$635.4 million.
At the end of last year, the then president of Caixa Loterias, Luciola Aor Vasconcelos, had already signaled that, soon, the Mega da Virada prize pool could reach R$1 billion.
“We don’t have a projection, but considering the growth in recent years, I don’t think it will take long to have a billion-dollar prize. I prefer not to estimate because we don’t have that projection, but it will be soon”, he said in December 2024.

Another change is that, from Monday (3), the time to place bets on all types of Caixa Lotteries, including Mega da Virada, will be extended. Players will have an extra hour “to buy their prizes through the application and through the Loterias Caixa portal, being able to purchase their shares until 8:30 pm”.

To participate in a Mega-Sena prize pool, bettors can purchase shares organized by lotteries, which may charge an additional service fee. It is also possible to purchase shares through the Loterias CAIXA portal or through the Loterias CAIXA application. When the pool is organized by the bettor himself, there is no service fee charged.
The CAIXA Lottery pool is the bettor’s way of placing group bets. Just fill in the appropriate field on the steering wheel or ask the lottery attendant.
In Mega-Sena, it is possible to make a pool of at least 2 and a maximum of 100 odds, with up to 10 bets per receipt. In the case of a pool with more than one bet, all of them must contain the same number of prediction numbers.
