Chamber may vote on project that expands betting resources for public safety

THE Chamber of Deputies You can vote this week on Bill (PL) 4,331/25, authored by deputy Yury do Paredão (MDB-CE), which proposes increasing the transfer of taxes collected from bets for financing public security.

Reported by deputy Captain Augusto (PL-SP), the text is ready for voting in the Plenary and foresees an increase in the share allocated to security from 13.6% to 31.6%. According to the rapporteur, the proposal does not change the total collected nor impact public revenue, but only reallocates the percentages of tax allocation.

“The proposal recognizes that the expansion of sports betting has generated new challenges to public security, such as cybercrime, electronic fraud and money laundering. By allocating a greater percentage of the resources collected to combat these illicit activities, the initiative reinforces the causal link between the revenue-generating activity and public policies aimed at mitigating its effects”, said the rapporteur.

According to the text, the Brazilian Intelligence Agency (Abin) will also receive more resources from taxes on bets. The transfer will be reduced for the sports area, from 26% to 25%, and Tourism, from 20% to 19.5%.
