Federal Revenue collects R$1 billion from bets in October

THE Federal Revenue released, this Monday (24), data on the total collection of federal taxes for the month of October. According to the organization, revenue from the betting sector reached R$1.093 billion in the period. The data were presented at a press conference held at the headquarters of the Ministry of Finance.

In the first ten months of 2025, compared to the same period in 2024, there was a growth of more than 16,000%, going from R$49 million to R$8 billion.

The information was detailed by the head of the Center for Tax and Customs Studies, Claudemir Malaquias, and by the Federal Revenue Forecast and Analysis coordinator, Marcelo Gomide, with transmission via the Ministry of Finance channel.

According to the Federal Revenue, the regulation of the fixed-odd betting sector was responsible for the increase in revenue within the economic divisions in October. In October 2024, revenue from these activities was R$11 million, a value that jumped to R$1 billion in October 2025.

“This is due to the regulations that came into force this year”, explained Claudemir Malaquias.

Malaquias also explained that changes in the legislation that regulates betting were decisive for the significant growth in revenue.

“Despite the Provisional Measure (MP) presented by the government containing mechanisms to increase revenue from the sector, there was no increase in the rate from 12% to 18% per year. This occurred because the text was subject to the nineteen rule, and the MP lost validity before the 90 days necessary to implement the tax increase”, declared Malaquias.

Total federal revenue collection reached R$261.908 billion in October, a real increase (already discounting inflation measured by the Broad National Consumer Price Index — IPCA) of 0.92% over the result for the same period in 2025 (R$247.920 billion). In nominal terms, there was growth of 5.64%.

In the first ten months of 2025, federal revenue totaled R$2.367 trillion, an increase of 3.20% in real terms compared to the same period in 2024 (R$2.182 trillion). In nominal terms, the accumulated result between January and October this year was 8.49% higher than that of the same period in 2024.
