Acre Assembly approves creation of state lottery service

The Legislative Assembly of Acre (Aleac) approved the Bill that creates the Lottery Service of the State of Acre, responsible for the organization, exploration and supervision of lottery activities at the state level. The proposal, voted in plenary this Wednesday (17), now goes to the governor for approval.

The new service will allow the state to explore lottery modalities already authorized at national level, in accordance with federal legislation and decisions of the Federal Supreme Court (STF). The initiative seeks to create a new source of non-tax revenue and expand the financing of public policies without generating additional costs for the State Treasury.

According to the text, the net resources collected from the Acre lottery will be allocated to areas such as social security, housing, culture, tourism, food security and social development. The law also provides mechanisms for transparency, state control and social responsibility in carrying out the activity.

Participation in betting will be restricted to people over 18 years of age, and the operation can take place both in person and virtually, within the limits of the state territory. The body responsible for Acre’s lottery policies will be in charge of authorization, accreditation and inspection of the service, and may operate directly or through concessions.

The project also establishes security and responsible gaming rules, such as systems against ticket tampering and mechanisms to prevent money laundering and terrorist financing, with mandatory communication to the Financial Activities Control Council (Coaf).

With the creation of the Acre Lottery, the state joins other units of the federation that have been regulating the sector to reinforce revenues and finance social policies in priority areas.
