THE Caixa Lotteries announced this Saturday (20) that the estimated prize of Mega da Virada reached a record value of R$1 billion, the largest in the history of Brazilian lotteries. The new amount was announced after no bet matched the six tens of Mega-Sena competition 2,954, drawn on Saturday night, in São Paulo.
The special Mega da Virada draw will be held on December 31st, at 10pm, broadcast live on Loterias Caixa’s Facebook page and on Caixa’s channel on YouTube. The value of a simple bet, with six numbers, is R$6.
Bets for contest 2,955 have been open since November 1st and can be placed until 8pm (Brasília time) on December 31st, at lotteries across the country, via the Loterias Caixa portal, official app (Android and iOS) or via Internet Banking Caixa.

This year’s prize is 57% higher than that paid in 2024, when the contest distributed R$635 million. As with all special contests, the Mega da Virada prize does not accumulate — if no one matches all six numbers, the amount will be divided among the players who match five numbers, and so on.
From this Sunday (21st), all Mega-Sena bets will be exclusive to Mega da Virada. According to Caixa, if a single winner takes the prize and invests the amount in savings, they will receive around R$6.6 million in income in the first month. The billion would also allow the purchase of 10,000 popular electric cars, valued at around R$100,000 each.
