Loterj begins VLT testing phase in Rio de Janeiro

THE Rio de Janeiro State Lottery (Loterj) begins this Monday (22), at 12 pm, the Proof of Concept (POC) of the Video Lottery Terminals (VLTs) — a stage that marks the beginning of practical tests of technical, operational and regulatory requirements provided for by state legislation.

The objective is to evaluate, in a controlled and transparent way, central aspects of the betting regulatory framework, such as system security, technological innovation, control mechanisms and user experience. The initiative seeks to contribute to the improvement of standards and the modernization of the authority.

The equipment being tested belongs to the company Clube do Bet, licensed by Loterj. In an unprecedented way, access to VLTs will require facial biometrics (KYC), a measure that prevents the participation of minors and guarantees the full identification of bettors.

The test will also verify the payment system, which will follow the “Pix no Pix” model, used in other Loterj products. The format allows all transactions to be traceable and auditable, reinforcing the prevention of financial crimes.

Each terminal will also have an identification QR Code, through which any citizen will be able to confirm whether the equipment is approved and in compliance with current regulations — an action aimed at transparency and social control.

According to Loterj, the POC is a fundamental step before definitive authorization for the operation of VLTs and is aligned with international standards of responsible gaming, public governance and institutional responsibility.
