Rio Grande do Sul holds public hearing on lottery services

The government of Rio Grande do Sul held, this Monday (26), a online public hearing to present the State lottery services concession project. The meeting was promoted by the Rio Grande do Sul Reconstruction Secretariat (SERG) and was attended by representatives of the Shimata & Kikuchi consortium, responsible for the technical studies that support the proposal.

According to SERG’s Undersecretary for Partnerships, Anna Clara Yaginuma, who presided over the hearing, the objective of the concession is to regularize the lottery market, allowing greater supervision by the State and guaranteeing security and transparency for users.

Public consultation on the project remains open until January 29th. After the deadline, the government will analyze the suggestions sent, respond to participants in minutes and prepare the final version of the proposal. Contributions can be sent using the form available on the Parcerias RS website, which brings together all information about the concession.

Concession and modalities

The project provides for the delegation of the implementation and operation of lottery services in Rio Grande do Sul to the private sector. The concession covers the types of fixed-odd betting, prediction, instant and traditional lotteries, in addition to others that may be authorized by federal legislation.

The concession period will be 20 years for the traditional lottery and 5 years for fixed-odd bets — in the latter case, the accreditation process may be renewed.
