The Ministry of Finance announced this Thursday (29) the appointment of Regis Dudena as the new Secretary of Economic Reforms. He leaves the Prizes and Betting Secretariat (SPA) after 1 year and 9 months at the helm. The appointment was made official this Thursday (29) by the minister Fernando Haddadin an ordinance published in the Official Gazette of the Union.
Dudena leaves the leadership of the Secretariat of Prizes and Bets (SPA), responsible for regulating betting and lotteries, and starts to command the area responsible for formulating and articulating proposals aimed at modernizing and improving the country’s economic environment. His departure from SPA/MF was made official in the same act that accredits him for the new position.
Lawyer specializing in Public and Regulatory Law, Regis Dudena has a degree in Law from the University of São Paulo (USP) and a PhD in National Financial System Studies from the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG). He has worked in the Civil House of the Presidency of the Republic, both in the legal area and in the Executive Secretariat, in addition to having worked in regulated sectors and financial institutions.
His management at the head of SPA played a fundamental role in regulating the sports betting and online gaming market in Brazil. During the period, Dudena coordinated the structuring of standards, inspection and integration of control mechanisms for the department. The exit occurs one year after the start of operation of the regulated betting market in the country.

New position
In his new role, Dudena will lead initiatives aimed at structural reforms, focusing on regulatory adjustments, administrative efficiency and strengthening economic competitiveness. The Secretariat of Economic Reforms, linked to the Ministry of Finance, has a central role in dialogue with other public bodies, the National Congress and the private sector on proposals for institutional improvement in the country.
Daniele Correa Cardoso takes over SPA

The transition also resulted in the appointment of Daniele Correa Cardoso as interim head of the Prizes and Betting Secretariat. A federal public servant, she has already headed the department on other occasions and must continue ongoing actions, including the regulation of commercial promotions, lotteries and betting, in addition to the implementation of responsible gaming policies.
Daniele played a prominent role in creating mechanisms to protect the population, such as the Centralized Self-Exclusion Platform, and was general coordinator of Responsible Gaming Monitoring, one of the secretariat’s priority agendas.
