THE Coljuegosregulatory body for games of chance in Colombiaannounced that it destroyed 11,788 gambling equipment that operated clandestinely, in an action considered part of a broader offensive to combat illegality in the sector.
According to the bulletin released by the institution this Thursday (29), the destroyed equipment — including slot machines, sports betting modules and bingo devices not connected to official control systems — failed to transfer more than 250 billion pesos per year to the Colombian health system, an amount estimated by Coljuegos itself.
According to the entity, in addition to the physical destruction of the devices, the operations are part of a strategy to protect resources destined for public health and reduce risks to bettors who use unregulated platforms and machines.

The president of Coljuegos, Marco Emilio Hincapié, stated that the measure sends “a strong message to those who try to profit illicitly” and highlighted the need to ensure that the resources raised by legally authorized games are destined for social services.
Hincapié also highlighted the impact of the actions on player safety and the importance of regulation as a tool to promote a more transparent sector aligned with legal standards.

The destruction of more than 11,000 illegal pieces of equipment represents a recent phase in Coljuegos’ ongoing efforts against clandestine operations in the country. In addition to physical equipment, the institution also adopts measures to block access to unauthorized betting platforms and reinforce institutional control mechanisms.
The Colombian municipality also highlighted the importance of these operations lies in the fact that the resources generated by the exploitation of legalized gambling are destined exclusively to the subsidized healthcare system.
