More than 326 thousand Brazilians close Bets accounts, says government

The federal government announced this Friday (27) that more than 326 thousand Brazilians closed their accounts on betting platforms after joining the Centralized Self-Exclusion Platforma tool created by the Secretariat of Prizes and Bets (SPA) to allow blocking of registrations on betting sites authorized by the government to operate in Brazil.

According to the government, the initiative is part of a broader responsible gaming action and aims to raise awareness of the risks associated with betting, which can lead to addiction, financial losses and impacts on mental health.

“Betting is not an investment. Betting can generate addiction and lead to the loss of money, problems in your family and your mental health. If gambling stops being fun and starts causing losses, it’s time to stop”says the text.

The post on the government’s social media highlights that the self-exclusion it also prevents the user from receiving targeted advertising from bookmakers and blocks the creation of new registrations linked to the CPF.

The platform, launched at the end of 2025, allows citizens to choose the period of leave, which can vary from a month to an indefinite period, and requests that operators update the block within 72 hours of the request. The government also advises that people with signs of dependence seek care through the Unified Health System (SUS), which offers specialized support.

The Centralized Self-Exclusion Platform was developed by the Federal Data Processing Service at the request of Prizes and Betting Secretariat and integrates the actions of the Interministerial Working Group on Mental Health and Prevention and Harm Reduction from Problem Gambling.
