The city of Bodó, Rio Grande do Norte, located about 200 km from Natal, has become a practical example of how the municipal lottery can go beyond entertainment and generate tangible benefits for the population. Since its creation in late 2024, Lotseridó has been directing resources to essential areas such as healthcare, infrastructure, and water supply, transforming the daily lives of residents.

Health: Agility and Access in Rural Areas

Among the first achievements is the acquisition of two new vehicles—a Hilux ambulance adapted for patient transport and a Fiat Strada for administrative support.
The new ambulance was designed specifically to serve the rural population, where terrain and roads made access difficult. Now, with more suitable vehicles, emergency care has become faster and more efficient.

“The vehicle will be very useful for the city. Its high height will allow it to reach the most remote areas in rural areas, where current vehicles have difficulty reaching,” highlighted Health Secretary Deyse Medeiros.

The new care protocol remains the same—residents contact the local primary care unit, which then contacts the city hospital—but response times have been reduced, ensuring greater safety in emergencies and transfers to neighboring municipalities.

Infrastructure: Monte de Santa Luzia and Tourism Development

Another notable investment by Lotseridó is the paving and construction of the handrail at Monte de Santa Luzia, one of Bodó’s most emblematic tourist and religious sites.
At 596 meters above sea level and with nearly six decades of history, the mountain is a traditional destination for annual pilgrimages. The new structure will facilitate visitor access and boost religious tourism, preserving local tradition and boosting the economy.

Water Security: Autonomy and Economy

Besides health and tourism, the municipal lottery is also helping Bodó advance its water security.
With funds from Lotseridó, the city is renovating and expanding 21 water reservoirs, with a goal of restoring 30 reservoirs. The impact is twofold: reduced costs for water trucks and guaranteed stable water supplies for farmers and families in rural areas.

Management and Results

Mayor Horison José celebrated the progress already seen by the community:

“This is something they (the residents) are all very pleased with,” stated the municipal manager.

For Camilo Brito, president of the National Association of Municipal and State Lotteries (ANALOME), Bodó is now a model of efficient management:

“While some municipalities are still debating, Bodó is already doing it. It’s already raising funds and transforming the city’s reality with municipal lottery resources,” he emphasized.

A New Look at Municipal Lotteries

Bodó’s experience shows, in practice, that municipal lotteries can be instruments of local development—when well-managed, with transparency, planning, and a social focus.

More than just generating revenue, Lotseridó is helping to strengthen the municipality’s autonomy, improve the population’s quality of life, and encourage a sustainable governance model.

In a national scenario where the regulation of betting and lotteries is still a topic of debate, Bodó emerges as an example of the responsible and efficient use of public resources.
